Forms in Space - Geometric Forms
This series represents astronomical scale forms such as planets, stars and the like. The pieces have been named using Bayer Astronomical Designations as a means of inferring magnitude of scale. The German astronomer Johann Bayer created his star atlas in 1603 which was the first systematic way of identification of stars. The system uses a Greek or Latin letter followed by its parent constellation’s Latin name. (Wikipedia) The use of black 3.0 is intended to create the impression of a void rather than a background. The design of each piece is not represtational but is focused on the interplay of the forms. The simplicity of the forms refers to the elemental nature everything, even forms on this scale.
